To Prepare
- In the Paul and Elder (2020) course textbook, review the following pages that explain each of the Essential Intellectual Standards of critical thinking.
- “Universal Intellectual Standards and Questions That Can Be Used to Apply Them” (p. 19–20)
- “Some Essential Intellectual Standards for All Human Thought” (p. 21)
- “Where Do Intellectual Standards Come From?” (p. 22)
- Read critical thinking examples in the Learning Resource “Critical Thinking in Practice,” and consider how each example does or does not represent an intellectual standard of critical thinking as discussed in Paul and Elder (2020), and why or why not.
The Assignment below must be at least one page and include:
Post the titles of three critical thinking examples from the Learning Resource “Critical Thinking in Practice,” and for each example, identify one intellectual standard of critical thinking that is or is not being met and why or why not. (Note: You must address three different standards; one different standard per example).
