The learning process must include both self-evaluation and reflection. During the course study, I met clinical problems and came up with solutions while undertaking this course, which taught me priceless skills about the perks of community health nursing. As such, learning how to integrate community health nursing and teaching techniques into creating sustainable educational projects is the course’s first objective. Some fundamental skills of community health nursing include but are not limited to teamwork, research, communication, and task organization (Covert et al., 2019). Undoubtedly, each one of the skills was put to use during the project’s preparation and presentation to ensure that the target audience understood the presentation through effective communication.

To facilitate the project’s research phase, working with collaborators and other society members was crucial. With certainty, the development of a work schedule enables one to do each assignment promptly. The effective use of collaborations greatly influences the project’s success. Information technology (IT) was used during the collection and evaluation processes for the second objective. Internet resources offer a wider variety of information about various communities and their common health requirements. Indeed, employing IT infrastructure to examine the raw data is vital in incorporating IT into nursing practice.

The community’s health needs were then determined by reviewing community assessments. It is essential to interact with respondents who identified with vulnerable groups and the caregivers who served them in their respective communities to get first-hand accounts of their culture, financial standing, and general level of healthcare understanding (Scott et al., 2018). After the completion, a discovery of poor community lifestyle decisions contributed to the prevalence of obesity among its residents. Additionally, an iterative method is used to develop sustainable projects. Reassessing earlier phases of the work to seek clarity on definitions, objectives, or expectations is typical in proper project management.

The provision of quality healthcare depends heavily on the levels of collaboration. Collaboration with others enhances a health facility’s pool of information and abilities and allows beginners to pick the brains of experts (Celio et al., 2018). Collaborations on my projects with local authorities, senior community health nurses, and medical experts have presented proper solutions to tackling health problems. Furthermore, accountability is encouraged by documenting each stage of the project and sharing the facts professionally. In many professional contexts, documenting and outlining how one’s work is progressing helps to justify the result, choice, or recommendations. In conclusion, the endeavor to teach and offer a learning experience for the audience has ensured that the course objectives have served as a roadmap for academic and career advancement.

I can’t believe it has been eight weeks! Wow, did it fly by. I have to say overall, I truly enjoyed this course. I was nervous at first, knowing we would have to do a presentation and have to have a certain number of hours each week recorded into project concert. Overall, I learned an abundance of information. Each week it was great to learn about everyone community project they would be presenting and all the different topics. I must say there were some great choices out there. I hope all your presentations went well. I enjoyed the contrast between our assignments whether it was writing a paper or completing a PowerPoint. I enjoy PowerPoints, lets me bring out my creative side and personally I learn best from them, as I am a visual learner. I also enjoyed creating the infographic. Community health nursing one was the first time I ever developed my own infographic and I loved it. I was excited to see we had to complete one for module five. I believe the infographic also helped me with my project, gave me more information to discuss and helped me complete the handouts for the project.

“A community assessment is defined as an effort to identify and prioritize a community’s health needs, accomplished by collecting and analyzing data, including input from the community” (Clark, 2015. pg. 358). This course also helped me truly understand the difference between public health nursing and clinical nursing. Public health nurses focus on a whole community, such as city, county and state (American Public Health Nursing, 2022). Clinical nurses focus on their patients own personal health issues/concerns (American Public Health Nursing, 2022). This was one of the most important lessons I learned. One of the beauties of nursing is theirs many opportunities and if we are lucky enough, we can try as many different avenues as we’d like until we find the one, we love the most. I’ve been a nurse for just about five years. I’ve started in home care and worked at a rehab center until I started working in a hospital setting. I fell in love with Critical Care and have been fortunate enough to test out the different units available in critical care. Being able to go out into the community for this project and asses the needs of the community truly opened my eyes to public health nursing. I really enjoyed this course, hard to believe it’s over with. Wonderful job to all and best of luck in your education journey as well as you’re nursing journey!
