Consider what you would do in the following scenarios:
- A teacher refuses to teach a district-mandated leadership unit that includes leaders who are gay or lesbian
- A parent requests that her child be transferred to another classroom when she learns that her child’s teacher is a practicing Muslim
- Students who are economically disadvantaged protest budget cuts to financial aid
To prepare for this Discussion, identify an unresolved social justice issue within an educational context with which you are familiar. Consider possible obstacles impeding the resolution of the issue.
Post a brief description of the education context and the social justice issue. Include a concise explanation of the obstacles you believe are impeding progress on the issue. What leadership strategies could you use to overcome these obstacles and make progress on the social justice issue?
